Germina Sebuwufu
Germina is a Stepping Stones Expert that holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Education of Makerere University. She also acquired a diploma in education of Kyambogo University and Diploma in Drama of Makerere University with other certificates by Margaret Macpherson and Late Professor Rose Mbowa.
She was engaged in the first initial training that was organized in Buwenda, Masaka, Uganda by Action AID London led by Alice Welbourn in 1994. This included the film which excitedly enhanced the communication in the whole process. Germina has been one of the key trainers in all subsequent trainings that sparkled from the first stepping stones manual and the accompanying film. Germina with a team led the trainings of all institutions that had programs on HIV in Uganda: Staff from TASO Uganda, KITOVU mobile health and social workers, Entebbe Virus Institute, Villa Maria Masaka and Mulago hospital trained as trainers of trainees who later trained others.
Germina and the team organized an international stepping stones workshop in Kampala Uganda in 1996 for Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Mozambique and Kenya trainees.
In addition to the above, she has monitored and evaluated the impact of stepping stones in areas which had intensively involved stepping stones in their programs in parts of Uganda.
She has been a key person in the adaption of stepping stone manuals that have been generated on the basis of the first manual. Peace and prosperity for Karamoja area to help facilitators run workshops to improve communication and relationship skills to promote peace and prosperity through reducing conflict and violence in Karamoja sub region.
Finally, she recently participated in the training of stepping stones with children “a transformative training for children affected by HIV and their caregivers” that was organised in Tanzania Dar es Salaam by Gill Gordon and Alice Welbourn hence became trainer in Uganda. She has been involved in its adaption to match with Ugandan context. She is a dedicated, hard working, trustworthy, self motivated, mature person with a good sense of humour.
